Although the final figures are still being tallied, the 2019 Portland International Auto Show probably was the most successful event ever.
The show is organized each year by the Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association, with this year's version being held Jan. 24-27 at the Oregon Convention Center. According to Executive Vice President Greg Remensperger, the Sneak Peek Charity Party held the night before the show opened was easily the biggest yet. It attracted more than 4,000 people — a 12 percent increase over last year's party — and raised more than $400,000 for seven local charities.
"We got the word out about the show, the weather cooperated, and the crowds were good all four days," Remensperger said. "Although more and more people shop for cars online, there's still a place for a show where they can come and see what they're interested in buying."
Tickets for Porsche Boxster raffle still available
There is still time to enter the 22nd annual Dougy Center raffle to win a 2019 Porsche Boxster.
Tickets are $100 each, and only 2,000 will be sold. The drawing will be held May 10. It is sponsored in part by Porsche Beaverton.
The Dougy Center is a Portland-based, nationally recognized center that helps families grieving the deaths of young loved ones. It is one of the local charities that has benefited in recent years from the Sneak Peek Charity Party held the evening before the start of the annual Portland International Auto Show.
