The mid-size SUV market is fiercely competitive, and GMC plans to use the new Acadia to maintain its position as GM's premium truck and SUV brand. The new AT4 trim adds to the brand's reputation with a bold black-accented exterior look, standard V6 engine, and a capable twin-clutch all-wheel-drive system. The AT4 comes standard with all-terrain tires on 17-inch wheels, but 20-inch wheels are available as an option. In addition to the AT4, the new Acadia is also available in the top Denali trim that has made GMC a byword for luxury.

The standard 3.6-liter V6 engine delivers strong performance with 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. It's mated to the new nine-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the older six-speed automatic. The new gearbox helps get the most performance out of the engine. An optional 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is also available, and this engine yields 230 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.

Inside, the Acadia can be configured with seating for five, six, or seven passengers. The five-passenger version uses two rows of seating with a rear bench seat. If the buyer chooses three rows, dual captain's chairs are available in the second row to accommodate six. With three rows and the bench seat, the Acadia will carry seven passengers.

GMC also unveiled its latest infotainment system for the Acadia. The system is built around an 8-inch touchscreen that supports standard voice recognition control. This new system allows four different personal profiles to tailor the infotainment system to driver preferences. Each profile includes preferred audio and climate settings. Each profile is associated with a particular Acadia key fob, which automatically resets the preferences for the incoming driver.

As a family SUV, safety is important for the Acadia. In the AT4 trim, the Acadia includes rear parking assistance and cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitoring with lane change alerts, and an HD rear view camera. Additionally, the optional Driver Alert Package adds automatic high beams, front and rear parking assist, following distance indicator, lane keeping assistance, and forward collision warning with automatic braking and pedestrian detection.
