Crowds flock to 2020 Portland International Auto Show
A record crowd could attend the 2020 Portland International Auto Show, which began its four-day run Thursday morning.
The show is the largest annual display of new vehicles in the Pacific Northwest. It is produced by the Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association. Executive Vice President Greg Remensperger said advanced ticket sales were running ahead of last year's show, which was one of the best attended.
The show runs through Sunday, Feb. 23, at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 N.E. MLK Jr. Blvd. It opened with a Sneak Peek Charity Party on Wednesday evening that was attended by 3,600 people. Remensperger said the money it generated would push the show's total charitable donations over time past the $5 million mark.
When the door sopened Thursday, people immediately began flocking to the most exciting new vehicles. They include the all-new mid-engine Chevy Corvette, the all-new all-electric Mustang Mach-E, the latest version of the legendary Shelby 500 GT, and the new Mohave version of the popular Jeep Gladiator pickup.
The show also features special attractions, including a tech center with a focus on electric vehicles and free Rides & Drives outside the center by numerous manufactures.
