Volkswagen offers payment relief to newly unemployed customers
Volkswagen of America is expanding a program that offers payment assistance to eligible buyers who lose their jobs in the current recession. If you have been considering a new vehicle but are hesitant due to economic uncertainty, this program is intended to reassure you.
The program applies to customers who purchase a new Volkswagen vehicle between April 15 and April 30, 2020, and finance the purchase through Volkswagen Credit. To be eligible for the program, customers must be receiving unemployment benefits, and the unemployment must occur for economic reasons after the first 90-days of ownership. Customers must also have been employed on a full-time basis for at least 12 consecutive weeks prior to the unemployment. The benefit expires 12 months from date of purchase.
The amount of payments waived is limited to no more than 6 monthly payments, up to $750 a month and up to $4,500 total. There are other conditions and limitations that apply to the program. For example, the program is not available to residents of New York. For more details about job loss payment assistance, visit VW.com/the-community-driven-promise/.
