Mitsubishi: Updated Outlander plug-in hybrid for 2022
Mitsubishi Motors has announced a revised version of its Outlander plug-in hybrid (PHEV) with a new-generation hybrid system. The vehicle will be available in the U.S. in the second half of 2022.
The new model will offer improved electric motor output and increased battery capacity over the current model, resulting in more powerful road performance and greater driving range. Based on a newly developed Outlander platform, new integrated components and an optimized layout allow the new model to accommodate seven passengers in three rows, which is unique in a compact-sized plug-in hybrid SUV.
The all-new 2022 Outlander PHEV is part of Mitsubishi's Environmental Targets 2030. Mitsubishi has set a goal of a 40 percent reduction in the CO2 emissions of its new cars by 2030, and it intends to achieve that goal by offering electric vehicles, with PHEVs as the centerpiece of its lineup.
