Local student to compete in Spelling Bee

Three Rivers Charter School fifth-grader Arush Goswami will compete in Pamplin Media Group's Regional Spelling Bee March 9 at the Hollywood Theatre. Forty-three Portland area students will participate in Saturday's bee.

CCC offers spring break camps

Clackamas Community College is offering one-day science camps for primary school students during spring break at CCC's Environmental Learning Center. Camps for first- and second-graders are March 26, 27, 28 and cost $60 per day.

2019 Money Smart scholarship

Country Financial and Financial Beginnings Oregon are now accepting entries from Portland-area high schoolers in the Money Smart essay contest for the chance to win a $3,000 scholarship.

Applicants must write a 300-word essay on income volatility. First place earns a $3,000 scholarship, and two runners-up will receive $1,000 scholarships.

Student exchange program

seeks host families

ASSE International Student Exchange Program is looking for families in the United States to host students from several countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa while they attend a high school in the United States.

The exchange students have each earned scholarships to study abroad the programs sponsored by the U.S. State Department.
