West Linn High School's Mock Trial team took home the top prize at the mock trial state finals March 6 and 7.
The Lion's team bested 18 other teams from around the state to advance to the mock trial nationals, which will take place May 6-9 in Indiana.
"Mock Trial is both a classroom strategy and an extracurricular competition that high school students have loved for decades," according to Classroom Law Project, the nonprofit that coordinates the competition.
"Using a mock court case, students play the roles of attorneys, witnesses, and court officers while learning the lasting skills of public speaking, teamwork, research, collaboration, civil and criminal legal concepts, and civic engagement."
