Rosemont Ridge Middle School welcomes new principal
This summer, a new principal will jump on board at Rosemont Ridge Middle School.
On Tuesday, Feb. 15, the West Linn-Wilsonville School District announced that Sara McCarney will take over as the new principal of the school starting July 1.
McCarney has worked in the district for about 14 years starting out as a teacher and instructional coordinator before taking the job as principal of Stafford Primary — a position she has held for six years.
"Fifth grade students were in kindergarten the year I came to Stafford. Over the last six years, I have had the pleasure of watching hundreds of children grow and develop as incredible human beings. From learning to read and play in kindergarten to presenting research and mentoring younger students in fifth grade, it has been a gift to bear witness to the leaps and bounds that are made each year," McCarney said.
In a letter to families, the district said McCarney's commitment and enthusiasm for her students, school and community were clearly shown during interviews for the position. The district also said throughout McCarney's career she has demonstrated an ability to listen and use stakeholders' voices while making the best decisions for her school.
McCarney will replace Debi Briggs-Crispin, who announced in early January that she will retire at the end of the school year. It has not been announced yet who will fill McCarney's position at Stafford Primary.
