Stafford Primary welcomes new principal
Stafford Primary School will welcome a new principal this summer.
The West Linn-Wilsonville School District announced Friday, March 18, that Melissa Hall will move from her current position as an instructional coordinator at Stafford to serve as the new principal. The district said in a letter to the community that Hall demonstrated strong leadership and community-oriented skills that align with the school's student body during the interview process.
"Ms. Hall demonstrates exceptionally strong instructional practice and leadership, clarity of vision and alignment between theory and practice, a strong commitment to the Stafford community, deep relational skills and a love for children," said Assistant Superintendent David Pryor in the letter.
Hall has worked at Stafford for almost five years, joining the school as a fifth-grade teacher in 2017 before stepping into the role as the instructional coordinator in 2019. Prior to her arrival at Stafford, Hall worked in the Lafayette School District in California as a district literacy coach and sixth-grade teacher for over a decade.
Hall will replace Sara McCarney, who announced to Stafford families in February that she had taken a position as the new principal of Rosemont Ridge Middle School.
"Fifth-grade students were in kindergarten the year I came to Stafford. Over the last six years, I have had the pleasure of watching hundreds of children grow and develop as incredible human beings. From learning to read and play in kindergarten to presenting research and mentoring younger students in fifth grade, it has been a gift to bear witness to the leaps and bounds that are made each year," McCarney said in the letter to families.
