White Oak Savana came together over more than a decade of fundraisers, grants and community contributions

A project 13 years in the making was officially "opened" Sept. 30, at a ribbon cutting for the last six acres added to West Linn's White Oak Savana Natural Area. The now 20-arce park on the south side of the city has hiking trails and will soon have a play area filled with logs, rocks and other natural objects to encourage children to climb, explore and use their imagination. Countless fundraisers, community donations and grants large and small were needed to raise the $3.5 million purchase price.
