West Linners have an opportunity to meet police chief candidates and volunteer at local parks for Earth Day

Public invited to meet police chief candidates

The City will host a community reception Wednesday, April 18, at the West Linn Police Station to introduce the two finalists for the position of police chief.

The event begins at 4:30 p.m. and the finalists — Beaverton Police Captain Jeffrey Williams and retired Portland Police Bureau Lieutenant Terry Kruger — will be introduced at around 5 p.m. The event will run until 6:30.

City Council town hall scheduled for tonight

The City Council is hosting its first quarter town hall April 12 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room at the West Linn Police Department. This will be a general question and answer format.

Volunteer for Earth Day

On Earth Day, April 21, the Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting the largest volunteer day of the year.

This year, the City of West Linn has been selected to participate in Comcast Cares Day. The Willamette Greenway Trail is the featured project and the focus will on be clearing areas and planting the trail's edible forest.

For each volunteer who joins the City April 21 to work on the Willamette Greenway Trail, the City will receive funding. Volunteers will also be treated to morning snacks and beverages, lunch and receive a t-shirt.
