Seniors welcome youngsters October 31 for a little trick or treating fun, socialization

Retirement homes and assisted living communities around the county are welcoming trick-or-treaters on Halloween.

Residents will distribute candy to kids who stop by, providing valuable social interactions for both seniors and children.

Rose Linn

At Rose Linn, a West Linn nursing home and residential care facility, trick-or-treaters are invited to a Halloween celebration from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31.

"It's our Halloween celebration from the residents and also so they can have some intergenerational therapy," said Jeanine Gianotti, Rose Linn activities director. "It's good socialization for them, and they get to feel like they're giving out candy like they used to."

Rose Linn hasn't invited the public to trick-or-treat in years, but the center is bringing it back as a fun opportunity for residents.

Rose Linn is located at 2330 Debok Road, West Linn.

The Springs at Wilsonville

The Springs at Wilsonville will welcome trick-or-treaters for the first time this year, after residents said they wanted to see kids from the community and hand out candy.

The Springs has had a Halloween celebration for years, but that has been for residents.

The Springs will welcome trick-or-treaters from 5 to 6 p.m. on Halloween. Visitors should check in at the front desk and can then stop by residences that will be labeled as participating.

The Springs is located at 7600 S.W. Vlahos Drive, Wilsonville.

SpringRidge Court

In Wilsonville, SpringRidge Court is open to trick-or-treaters from 5 to 6 p.m. on Halloween. SpringRidge Court offers residential and memory care within the SpringRidge at Charbonneau senior living campus. SpringRidge Court will welcome costumed kids to 32100 SW French Prairie Road, Wilsonville.

Brookdale Wilsonville

Brookdale Wilsonville will also open to trick-or-treaters from 3 to 4 p.m. on Halloween. Brookdale is located at 8170 S.W. Vlahos Drive, Wilsonville.

Avamere Living at Berry Park

In Oregon City, Avamere Living at Berry Park is open from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Halloween, offering a warmer option than walking the streets.
