West Linn-Wilsonville School District is also a defendant, accused of negligence

The school district is facing its third lawsuit regarding former teacher Jonathan Peachey. Another former West Linn-Wilsonville School District student has come forward to file a lawsuit regarding sex abuse by former district teacher/coach Jonathan Peachey, asking for more than $2.5 million in damages for intentional infliction of emotional distress, sexual abuse and negligence.

The suit claims that the now 18-year-old male plaintiff, referred to as B.T., was "groomed" by Peachey with attention, meals and outings, and access to Peachey's car for some time around the time he was 15-16,, and sexually abused shortly thereafter.

Peachey, formerly a Spanish teacher and ski coach at West Linn High School, was sentenced to 60 days in jail and ordered to pay restitution and register as a sex offender for third-degree sexual abuse of a minor in 2016 (a misdemeanor) in a case regarding two WLHS students. The two minors later filed lawsuits alleging that the school district failed to properly investigate Peachey's inappropriate relationships with students. The negligence claim against the district was later dismissed and has been appealed by the plaintiffs.

The new suit, filed Dec. 2 in Clackamas County Court, alleges Peachey induced and directed the minor to engage in various sexual acts, and the minor complied due to his trust and respect for Peachey. The negligence claims include "West Linn-Wilsonville School District has reasonable cause to believe that Peachey had engaged in sexual contact with and had abused B.T. and/or other minor male West Linn High School student" and failed to report the abuse.

Peachey pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges in 2016 and took a plea bargain to avoid trial. His attorney at the time said Peachey was not a pedophile but rather "guilty of poor judgement."
