Council to discuss city manager options
The West Linn City Council will hold a work session Thursday, Jan. 23 to discuss the process for hiring a new city manager. The work session will take place at 1 p.m. at Robinwood Station, 3706 Cedaroak Drive. Public comment will be taken at the meeting.
Two weeks ago, the council voted 3-2 to terminate the employment contract of City Manager Eileen Stein without cause. Since then, Deputy City Manager John Williams has stepped in to manage the City.
Williams has expressed an interest in the position on a permanent basis and Mayor Russ Axelrod and Councilor Jules Walters have voiced support for the idea of Williams as city manager.
Before hiring Stein in 2016, the City Council considered hiring several recruitment firms to help with the process. These firms told the council their services would cost between $21,000 and $27,000 and the process would take anywhere from 10 to 20 weeks.
