Last June, the pair raised more than $12,000 for the Alzheimer's Association's Longest Day to help find a cure for the disease.

The Paxtons' annual summer-kickoff "Solstice Sip" took place in their home last year and will this year be a virtual wine tasting, pairing and educational event hoping to raise more than $15,000.

Andrew Rich from the Carlton Winemaker's Studio will be joining the Paxtons in partnership with West Linn's Tumwater Vineyard. Registered guests are encouraged to purchase the highlighted wines, but that is not a requirement to join the 6:30 p.m. Zoom call on Friday, June 19. Before joining the call, the Paxtons would like you to consider ordering takeout from Chocolates by Bernard, Lake Oswego's Nicoletta's Table or Allium in West Linn.

"Given the impact of COVID-19, we have transitioned our focus this year to increasing the awareness of Alzheimer's while also supporting the generous sponsors who have supported us," Lindsay Paxton said.

The online event will be open to all, but participants will receive a raffle ticket for every $20 donation to the Alzheimer's Association. The winner of the raffle will receive Big Fir Designs' locally handmade walnut charcuterie board.

Lindsay is owner of Wealth Driven Mindset, and Brandon is a lieutenant with Clackamas Fire. They partnered with Longest Day for their annual "Solstice Sip" event because their close friend's father was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's in December.

Originally the Paxtons were aiming to host their first charity event in 2020. Based on the sequence of learning about their friend's family news and the Longest Day, they committed to putting together an event one year earlier than originally planned.

They started planning the event hoping to raise $5,000, but almost 80 people attended.

Solstice Sip guests join Whitney Govert from the Carlton Winemakers Studio on the back deck for their first of five wine tastings at the 2019 event.
