Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue crews quickly extinguish rural West Linn fire Thursday morning

FILE - A Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue firefighter responds to a recent blaze. Firefighters with Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue responded to a fire on Petes Mountain Road in West Linn around 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, the same area where a two-alarm brush fire threatened homes on Monday night.

According to TVF&R Public Information Officer Cassandra Ulven, crews were able to quickly tackle the fire Thursday morning and would remain on scene mopping up hot spots.

Ulven said it wasn't immediately clear what started the fire Thursday, but hot spots from a previous fire can stay active for days or even weeks after a fire is extinguished.

West Linn residents remain at a Level 1 evacuation ready mode as multiple fires spread throughout Clackamas County.
