The 65-year-old fell off a boat into the Columbia River Monday morning near North Portland Harbor

PMG FILE PHOTO - According to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, a West Linn man died while fishing Monday morningJeffrey Ulksy, a 65-year-old West Linn man, died while fishing on the Columbia River in Portland Monday, Sept. 29.

According to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, a caller reported to 9-1-1 dispatch at 10:24 a.m. Monday that they had seen a man fall into the river from his boat and not resurface; the incident occurred near Lotus Island in the North Portland Harbor.

Sheriff's Office marine deputies responded along with Portland Fire & Rescue and located Ulksy shortly after arriving. They transported him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A press release from MCSO stated Ulsky was fishing alone and not wearing a life jacket. Deputies said they were unsure what caused him to fall in the water.
