Kessner, a West Linn resident, has 11 pieces on display at the Lake Oswego Public Library, located at 706 Fourth St., through Aug. 30.

"I think people should check it out because I'm a local artist. I've lived in Oregon my whole life," Kessner said. "Some of the people I mention on the artist statement and in some of the descriptions of the pieces — since they each have a description below them — a lot of the people that influenced my work have been in the community and taught others."

Kessner's artwork primarily centers on painting and printmaking. His work on display includes many styles like watercolor, gouache — similar to watercolor, though it's more opaque — etching and prints.

One of his watercolor paintings was a collage created from magazine clippings based on the song "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac. Also on display is the first etching he ever created, which resembles the woodshed from his old home in Molalla, with etchings of a lizard and frog in the foreground, inspired by images from a National Geographic magazine. One of his gouache paintings uses snowflake templates, which were inspired by a past teacher.

All of the pieces are for sale and Kessner offers free postcards, which are located near the fiction desk at the library. COURTESY PHOTO: DANIEL KESSNER - Daniel Kessner's art primarily focuses on painting and printmaking.
