Candidates have until Sept. 6 to file to run for two open City Council positions.

With just over a month until the filing deadline, no candidates have applied to run for two open positions on the West Linn City Council this November.

Incumbent councilors Todd Jones and Bill Relyea, whose terms expire at the end of the year, have not indicated whether or not they'll run again.

Jones told Pamplin Media he had not yet decided whether he would run, while Relyea has not returned a request for comment.

The city of West Linn, which does not require collection of signatures or any payment to run, opened filing in June. The deadline to file is Sept. 6.

With Mayor Jules Walters running for House District 37 and two years left in her current mayoral term, three-fifths of the council could be entirely new next year. Walters will vacate her seat if she wins the race for District 37.

Councilors elected this November would serve a four-year term beginning in January 2023.

Candidate filing forms, and more information on running for election, can be found here.
