The Fourth of July 2013 celebration nearly brought together 4,500 people to the event at Willamette Park on the river bank.

The ceremony and the attendance was a something to be remembered. There was happiness everywhere.

The smooth efforts shown by everyone was admirable. The cake, the dancers, the fireworks were awesome as all had a good time. The race car display claimed thousands of kids and parents taking pictures for their memories.

I want to thank the Willamette Falls neighbors for their hospitably and to everyone’s courteous deportment throughout the event. Thank you to the Royal Rosarians to honor West Linn’s 100 years. And thank you to U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden for greeting the crowd and presenting to me the flag which had flown over the Capitol. Thank you state Sen. Richard Devlin for the support and salute to West Linn and all you do for us. Thank you county commissioners who shared this day with West Linn. Also a big thank you to Oregon Rep. Julie Parrish for her friendship to your entire district, your support is recognized by your good work which benefits us all.

Thank you to all the sponsors and their generosity. Thank you Gramor Development and Icon Development; JT Smith for the race car display; Les Schwab; Tanner Spring Assisted Living and all the other local business that supported me again this year, you have my gratitude.

Thank you Mark Parrish and the team who set up the fireworks display.

Thank you to the state Fire Marshal Mark Wallace and our Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue Chief Mike Duyck for all your help. With a special thanks to the onsite TVF&R crew who accomplished the raising of the flag as I aspired it. The flag flew high above with solemn emotions for all to see.

Everybody and everything was beautiful on this Fourth of July celebration. Thank you, it is all worth our efforts to stage such an event. I am just a volunteer organizer still making West Linn (home) since December 1958.

Alice Richmond is a West Linn resident and also organizes the annual Fourth of July celebration as well as the Oktoberfest event.
