Sherry Palmer of West Linn shares her opnion on spending for old fire stations

PMG FILE PHOTO - Sherry Palmer doesn't want the City to spend money on Bolton and Robinwood stations. The West Linn City Council is currently discussing "GO BOND" funding for "city facilities." The McLean House and the "Old City Hall" are private/public funded entities. With the restraints of our city budget, this template offers a responsible means to provide stable funding for these facilities. In contrast, rehabilitating the old Bolton Fire Station and Robinwood Station will require a $1 million-plus each. This bill will fall squarely on the City of West Linn. It has been proposed by the Mayor and Councilors Cummings and Sakelik to spend approximately half that amount on each facility to make the buildings "operational." But as we all know, once that money is spent, there will be further requests down the road. Both facilities are "money pits." Robinwood Station has already made past requests. It is no accident that all these facilities are located in just three neighborhoods. While we all pay property taxes, these three neighborhoods reap the benefits! Please contact the Mayor and city councilors and express your opposition to spending a million dollars on Bolton and Robinwood Fire Stations!
