Thanks to work day participants
With the virus, protests, elections, and schools drawing our focus, I wish to offer a simple thanks for an event which occurred Saturday Aug. 1.
Through the efforts of the West Linn Lions, West Linn Scout troops 149 and 555 and the Friends of McLean Board, a special workday was held at the Mclean Park to de-weed the back hillside, prepare a new drip water system (5 garden areas) and install a drain system at the back of the house.
At 9 a.m., all met, with proper attire and adherence to the coronavirus regulations with masks, gloves, sanitizers and an orientation for the day. A special thank you goes to their efforts for doing a community service for three hours for our historical park.
Part of the thank you goes to the City's Park and Recreation Maintenance Department who provided the materials and coffee from West Linn Starbucks. It showed that given the circumstances and the preparation some volunteer projects can be done.
Thank you, Lions and Thank you, Scouts.
Friends of McLean Park and House president
