The West Linn 7th grade girls BOOM! soccer team wins 2017 championship in a shootout

Not pictured is Kaydence Monson.In an exciting shootout win, Willamette United Football Club's (WUFC) 7th Grade Girls BOOM! Soccer Team took first place in its division, beating all three of its opponents at the annual 2017 Willamette Cup Tournament.

"They played their hearts out this weekend and battled to the end," coach Chris Hoem said. "I couldn't be prouder."

BOOM! won 1-0 in the championship game against WUFC 7th Grade Girls - Case WV Soccer Team at Wilsonville High School on Sunday.

Both teams' defensive pressure kept the game scoreless, even through a five-minute overtime, and ultimately sent the game to a shootout where BOOM! won. Willamette United Football Club's (WUFC) annual 2017 Willamette Cup Tournament — held on Saturday and Sunday — featured 59 youth soccer teams ranging in age from third through eighth grades.
