Lions skier Alyssa Hargis wins giant slalom in Week One Three Rivers League race

The West Linn ski teams have gotten off to a flying start in January, beginning with the annual Kelsey Memorial Race and continuing with Three Rivers League action since then.

For the West Linn boys, the Lions started their year by placing 11th in the Kelsey Memorial with a team time of 1 minute, 10.86 seconds for the giant slalom on Gemini at Mt. Hood Meadows Jan. 6.

Trevor Pool was the Lions' top finisher there, placing 21st at 22.40, while Mac Graves was next for West Linn in 33rd at 23.03.

In the TRL giant slalom on Gemini Jan. 13, the Lions took fifth with a time of 3 minutes, 2.46 seconds. West Linn was led there by Trevor Pool's seventh-place finish with a time of 57.31, followed by Macallister Graves in 18th at 1:02.38 and Brian Wicklund in 19th at 1:02.77.

For the West Linn girls, the Lions opened with a seventh-place finish in the Kelsey Memorial with a time of 1:09.77, led there by Alyssa Hargis' 14th-place finish at 22.04, followed by Grace Maher in 18th at 22.56.

In the TRL giant slalom on Gemini on Jan. 13, West Linn's girls finished fourth overall at 3:01.84, with Hargis taking first overall with a winning time of 57.31, followed by Maher in eighth at 1:00.90 and Zayna Farah in 11th at 1:03.63.
