The local stars won their regional, then played to second place in the World Series

SUBMITTED PHOTO - West Linn Babe Ruth coach Ray Pearson, flanked by assistant coach Rob Hoover and the team, addresses a packed house of over 200 baseball coaches, including Pat Casey from the Oregon State Beavers and George Horton from the Oregon Ducks on Jan. 20. The 14U West Linn Babe Ruth Federal team was honored as the Junior Team of the Year at the Northwest Baseball Coaches Convention on Jan. 20.

Last summer, the Lions won the Northwest Regional in Calgary in convincing fashion, going 6-0 and outscoring their opponents by 63 runs.

The team, comprised entirely of boys from West Linn, then competed in the Babe Ruth World Series in Virginia, playing against teams from communities as big as 1,000,000 from all over the country and making an improbable run to the championship game.

The 14U's second-place finish is the highest achievement of any West Linn youth baseball team.
