The OISA state competition opened Wednesday and continues through Saturday at Mt. Hood

COURTESY ERIK GRAHAM PHOTOGRAPHY - The West Linn snowboard team is taking 16 of its best riders to this week's state meet, which opens Thursday and continues through Saturday at Mt. Hood.The West Linn snowboard team is ready for the biggest competition of the year.

The Lions — 16 of them in all — began competition in the Oregon Interscholastic Snowboard Association state meet Wednesday and will continue through Saturday at Mt. Hood Meadows.

The 16 Lions have qualified to participate in a variety of events including banked slalom, boardercross, slopestyle and halfpipe. The OISA awards banquet for all riders will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Mt. Hood Resort in Welches.

West Linn boarders who have qualified for state are: Elliott Avery, Ashton Bowerly, Blane Burton, Gavin Campbell, Ashley Chon, Will Craig, Asher Isaacson, Averie McCurry, Kyli Miller, Peter Moller, Lucas O'Doud-Vega, Ava Paul, Derek Pickett, Evan Potter, Ronan Retzlaff, and Tanner Southwick.
