West Linn 14U stars prep for July 22-27 Babe Ruth Regional tournament

What time is it?
At least it is for the West Linn 14U Federal baseball team as it prepares for the 2019 Pacific Northwest 14-Year-Old Babe Ruth Regional Tournament at West Linn High School. The 10-team tournament begins with opening day ceremonies on Sunday, July 21, pool play games are scheduled for Monday, July 22, through Friday, July 26, and the tournament semifinals and championship are set for Saturday, July 27.
West Linn earned its berth in the regional tournament by going 5-0 to win the 14U WLBA Babe Ruth tournament at West Linn High School in late June. The West Linn team includes Max Wright, Drake Gabel, Tyson Smith, Ryan Vandenbrink, Dylan Nance, Aidan Duea, Jack Fillion, Jackson Curdy, Max Allen, Drew Ness, Gabe Howard, Jake Holmes and Daniel Onion, and coaches Danny Nance, Don Gabel, Aaron Howard and Kevin Vandenbrink.
"We are very excited to be back at the regional tournament," Danny Nance said. "We prepare all season for the opportunity to compete in this tournament with the opportunity to advance to the Babe Ruth 14U World Series."
A year ago, most of these same players won the 13U PNW Regional and advanced to the Babe Ruth World Series in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
That said, nothing comes easy once you get to the regional level.
"This year will be challenging. … We will see some stiff competition from all over the Pacific Northwest," Danny Nance said. "(But) the boys and coaches have worked hard all year to get to this point. I am very proud of this group and look forward watching them play next week.
