After a stellar regular season in the Three Rivers League, the West Linn snowboard team got after it one more time at state.
The state snowboard competition kicked off on Wednesday, March 11, and continued through Saturday, March 14, at Mt. Hood Meadows.
In the boys competition, senior Ashton Bowerly raced to third in the state boardercross race and got a bronze medal.
Bowerly also made his presence felt in the boys slopestyle event, finishing sixth overall with a time of 51.276 seconds to lead the Lions to seventh in the team standings. Josh Lucas of Lake Oswego won the slopestyle competition at 48.838.
Also competing in slopestyle for the Lions were: Stephen Whittington, 41st at 55.208; Peter Moller, 43rd at 55.276; and Evan Schleef, 49th at 55.714.
In the girls competition, Ava Paul took fourth in the slopestyle at 58.342 and led her team to a second-place finish with 966 points. Cleveland's Astri Lommen won the event at 54.015, while Wilson took the team title with 1,125 points.
Also competing for the West Linn girls were: Kyli Miller, seventh at 59.369; Averie McCurry, 65.775; and Ashley Chon, 67.883.
