West Linn's Caden Parker signs with Clark College
The 2020 high school baseball season may have been canceled, but that doesn't mean West Linn High School's best aren't still getting noticed.
Clark College recently announced that Caden Parker — he's a senior at West Linn this year — has chosen to further his education and baseball career at Clark.
"I had been hearing about this kid from West Linn for a couple of years. (Clark College infield and third base coach) Casey Dyer kept telling me I had to watch him play, and when I made my way to Oregon, I saw what Case was talking about," Clark College head coach Mark Magdaleno said. "He hits, he runs, he picks, he leads and his baseball IQ is off the charts. Most importantly, he competes,"
"I am very eager and excited to be attending Clark to play baseball. Thank you to my family, friends and coaches for helping me get this far," Parker said.
Parker made an impact at perennial powerhouse West Linn and was set for a big junior year until COVID-19 impacted the world of high school athletics.
"Caden Parker started to make an impact on our program when he was a freshman. His hard work, heads-up playmaking and his sixth sense about the game earned him a starting spot as a sophomore," said West Linn coach Joe Monahan. "He's got great hands, grinds out quality at-bats and runs and hits well. No doubt he will be an impact player at the college level."
"Not everyone fits here. We always take the hard road. No shortcuts. No excuses. Work and be accountable," Magdaleno said. "I won't try to put a round peg in our square space. He fits here and we are excited about what is happening for us in Oregon."
