Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard will lead the WLHS boys camp June 29-July 2.

The West Linn boys basketball camp returns for 2021 and returns with a very special presenter — Payton Pritchard of the Boston Celtics.

Pritchard, a four-time state champion at West Linn and an All-American at the University of Oregon, will lead two sessions of the camp at West Linn High School, 5464 West A Street, from June 29-July 2.

The first session is open to players in incoming grades 7-9 and set from 9 a.m. to noon. The second session is open to players in incoming grades 4-6 and set from 1-3:30 p.m.

The camp costs $200 per player and all players will receive a camp T-shirt, as well as guidance from Pritchard, West Linn boys varsity head coach Eric Viuhkola, JV head coach Kevin Vaughan, assistant coaches David VanBeenen and Ryan Svenson, and current and former West Linn High School players.

During his career, Pritchard has amassed a long list of accomplishments including: four-time Class 6A state champion at West Linn (2013-16); three-time 6A Player of the Year (2014-16); Pac-12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player (2019); Pac-12 Player of the Year (2020); first-team All-American (2020); Bob Cousy Award (2020); Lute Olson Award (2020); University of Oregon leader in wins (144); and the first player in Pac-12 history with more than 1,900 points, 500 rebounds and 600 assists.

Pritchard and the other coaches/WLHS players will demonstrate and teach the ball handling and shooting skills that made him a first-round draft pick of the Boston Celtics. In addition, there will be daily prizes, daily competitions, one-on-one individual instruction, guest speakers, a 5-on-5 tournament and a camp "decathlon."

West Linn Girls Basketball Camp

The West Linn Girls Basketball Camp is back.

The camp is open to girls in incoming grades 2-9 and will be held from 9 a.m. to noon July 19-22 in the main gym at West Linn High School, 5464 W A St. The cost is $125 per player, with second players from the same family costing $115.

Skills taught and reinforced at the camp include ball handling, passing, footwork, shooting, defense, rebounding, and fun and competitive games.

The camp will be led by West Linn varsity head coach Brooke Cates, her staff and her current WLHS players.

Milwaukie Girls and Boys Youth Basketball Camp

The 2021 Milwaukie Girls and Boys Youth Basketball Camp is set from 9 a.m. to noon July 5-8 at Milwaukie High School, 2301 S.E. Willard St. in Milwaukie. The camp is open to boys and girls of all skill levels from incoming kindergarteners through ninth graders.

   The camp will be run by Milwaukie High School head boys basketball coach Donny Law, his staff and his current high school boys basketball players.

Law said his goal is to help campers learn both basketball skills and life skills at the camp.

All participants will receive a camp T-shirt and the cost is $50 per player. Registration is open here.

*Due to extreme heat forecast for Monday, June 28, the start of the Payton Pritchard Camp has been moved to Tuesday, June 29th and will continue until Friday, July 2nd.
