The West Linn High School Lions easily take out the South Medford Panthers after scoring 5 unanswered goals in the first half of the match.

The West Linn boys soccer team defeated South Medford 5-0 in the first round of the 2021 OSAA boys state soccer playoffs.The West Linn High School boys soccer team steam-rolled into the playoffs riding a 12 game unbeaten streak dating back to the second game of the season.

Standing in the Lions way for a deep run into the playoffs were the South Medford Panthers.

It took the Lions about a minute to score their first goal and thus setting the tone for a dominating first half performance that put the visiting Panthers on their heels for the rest of the game.

The Lions would go on to score 5 goals in the first half with the boys from West Linn dominating possession for much of the game. Scoring for the Lions were Thomas Pierce with a brace, Maxwell Kelley, Alejandro Valdes, and Luke Tinsley who scored on a free kick in the upper right corner of the net.

The West Linn boys soccer team now advance to the second round of the playoffs as the #6 seed in the tournament and will play another game at home Wednesday night, November 3, at 6:30 p.m. against Sunset High School. The Apollos, the #11 seed in the tournament, defeated Grants Pass 3-1, to advance in play.
