The Lions fall to the Storm of Bend 0-6 in the OSAA 6A state final boys soccer championship held at Hillsboro Stadium on Saturday, November 13.

Luke Tinsley of West Linn goes up for a header in the Lions state championship game against Summit.

Sometimes you just have one of those games. Unfortunately for the Lions, both on the field and in the stands, Saturday night just wasn't their night.

The West Linn Lions take home the second place trophy at the 2021 OSAA boys soccer state championship gameThe game seemed like more of a home game for Summit. The visiting Storm from Bend travelled 3 plus hours to attend the game and then dominated play on the field and in the stands. Even the Storm student section from the start of the game was impressive. They out cheered the Lion student section which became easier to do as the game got further and further out of reach for the Lions.

Even though the Lions lost 6-0, the score was not reflective of the Lion's abilities. The Lions had their most successful season in the history of the program, advancing to the state final game for the first time in the program's history. The Lions also had a 16 game unbeaten streak and did not give a goal through their entire run of the playoffs until the state final.
