OIT posted two NAIA playoff victories in Oklahoma, then added two more playoff wins in Alabama to get to the semifinals. There, the Owls lost to the eventual national champions, Tennessee Southern.

Earlier, Burkhartzmeyer earned Defensive Player of the Year for the Cascade Collegiate Conference before being recognized nationally with her All-American Award. For the year, the Owls posted a 20-3-1 overall record.

In high school, Burkhartzmeyer competed in the state playoffs for West Linn in basketball, tennis and soccer. Her senior-season soccer team reached the state semifinals in 2018 before eventually losing to Clackamas in overtime.

In college, Burkhartzmeyer and her "Hustlin' Owls" teammates took the team to the highest level ever achieved by OIT. Burkhartzmeyer helped the Owls post the best goals against average in the CCC, boasting 0.39 goals against average. She posted six shutouts (second in the conference, 19th nationally) for the year and went into the postseason with a .868 save percentage (third in the CCC, 18th in the NAIA). In addition, the team had a streak of 10 straight shutouts last year.
