The Lions were forced to withdraw after a COVID-19 outbreak among their players.

The 2021 Les Schwab Invitational looks different today — Sunday, Dec. 26 — than it did yesterday.

The West Linn boys basketball team — second-ranked in the latest Class 6A coaches poll — was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to a COVID-19 outbreak among its players.

Also exiting the tournament at the last minute were two of the LSI's three out-of-state teams, Gonzaga College High School and Isidore Newman.

Those exits also mean that Lake Oswego's opening game — originally scheduled against Gonzaga — will be played against Vancouver's Evergreen High School at 6 p.m. today (Sunday, Dec. 26) at Liberty High School in Hillsboro.

Joining Evergreen as last-minute additions to the tournament are the teams from Canby, David Douglas and Sherwood.

The Link Academy Lions remain as the last of the LSI's initial out-of-state powerhouses. Link Academy, from Hollister, Missouri, feature five players with Division I credentials — Jordan Walsh (signed with Arkansas), Julian Phillips (signed with Louisiana State University), Tarris Reed Jr. (signed with Michigan), Felix Okpara (signed with Ohio State University) and Omaha Biliew (offers from Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis and Michigan).

* Lake Oswego's game time was moved back to 6 p.m.
