Do you need high-mileage motor oil?
Sure, high-mileage oil costs a bit more, but if your car has driven over 75,000 miles, it's time to consider preventative measures to ensure your car is performing properly. High-mileage oil is a small cost to pay with big benefits.
Over time and miles, your car's engine internal seals and gaskets degrade; you may have noticed oil spots under your car. These rubber seals will inevitably shrink, become brittle and crack. Leaking oil is not good for your car, the roads or the environment! And when valve-guide seals wear out, motor oil can leak into combustion chambers and the engine will start burning oil. High-mileage oil contains seal conditioners that will help extend the life of your car's rubber seals by reacting to the rubber and make them more flexible and expand. It will also help reduce oil consumption and decrease smoke and emissions in older cars.
High-mileage oils contain anti-oxidants to prolong the life of a lubricant by increasing the oxidative resistance of the base oil; detergents to clean out the sludge inside the engine and anti-wear additives to reduce wear on moving parts.

It's been said that you are what you eat and the same is true for your car: the better the food, the greater the ability to perform at maximum potential.
