Accreditation Matters
"Most people would not go to a hospital that isn't accredited or send children to colleges that aren't accredited," said Garth Hallman, Executive Director of SpringRidge at Charbonneau, a luxury senior living community in Wilsonville. "So why isn't that expected when considering a retirement community? Moving into a senior living community that is accredited affords greater peace of mind that the care and services have undergone intense scrutiny by an outside, third party."

It's a fact, accreditation matters. Designed to encourage the ongoing pursuit of excellence, accreditation is no longer just associated with healthcare and higher education institutions. It is an important seal of approval older adults should look for when exploring senior living options.

SpringRidge at Charbonneau, an SRG senior living community, is proud to have been awarded a 3-year accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). CARF is an international, third-party, nonprofit organization that accredits health and human services providers to promote and ensure the quality of care and services provided. Though federal and state guidelines don't require senior living communities to be accredited, achieving accreditation demonstrates consistent adherence to high standards of quality, successful professional practice, continuous performance monitoring, evaluation and improvement of programs, and that a retirement community's priority is resident comfort, care and quality of life.

To achieve accreditation, a senior living community must demonstrate comprehensive conformance to approximately 1,500 elevated standards. CARF surveyors noted that SpringRidge's team exhibited warm, compassionate and person-centered care and support for its residents. They also commended the community's robust dining program, which featured fresh, locally sourced ingredients and an array of choices.

"Having accomplished the highest level of three-year accreditation speaks volumes for the services, amenities and programs at SpringRidge, but more so to our dedication to provide the very best in resident care," added Hallman.
