Lunchtime lectures

The center will offer two lectures in October featuring local attorney Joshua J. Lipps. There is no charge, but preregistration is required. Call us at 503-682-3727 to reserve your spot.

The first talk will be Oct. 2 at noon and focus on the differences between a will verus a trust. Many people have asked themselves the question: Which is better, a will or a living trust? Learn the pros and cons and from an expert and decide for yourself.

The second lecture on Oct. 16 will answer the question: What happens to my will during probate? Do you have a will? Learn how your estate is settled during a court supervised probate.

Focus on healthy bones and balance

We are all aware that changes in bone density and decreased balance can occur as our bodies’ age. Fitness specialist Brad Moore designs new exercise stations for the class each quarter, based on research from the American College of Sports Medicine. Take a proactive approach to your health and sign up for the second session of the fall quarter, beginning Nov. 18.

These books are a local, sustainable alternative to the “Entertainment Book” and half of the $20 purchase price goes to support in-house and home-delivered meals for seniors in Wilsonville. Medicare 101 Overview and Annual 1:1 Medicare Checkup

This is the Medicare overview you do not want to miss. SHIBA (Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance) counselors will share all the recent changes to the Medicare benefit program. Please call to reserve your seat for this session, held at the community center on Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Center for Medicare Services recommends that all participants review their plans yearly. This will insure individuals receive the best plan based on their personal needs. Call to schedule an appointment and get the maximum benefit from your Medicare plan. One-hour sessions will be offered Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There is no charge for these sessions, but we have a limited amount to so let us know if you would like to attend.
