City plans to re-pave road from Town Center Loop West to Murase Plaza

Starting on Monday, July 14, the city of Wilsonville’s annual street maintenance program commences.

Paving contractor North Santiam Paving Company is planning to carry out pavement rehabilitation and update sidewalk ramps to current Americans with Disabilities Act standards on a stretch of Southwest Wilsonville Road running between Southwest Town Center Loop West and Kolbe Lane, which is located just east the Community Center and Murase Plaza.

“Summer is the best time of the year to complete paving projects as the warm and dry weather helps ensure that the City achieves the best results for our public investment in road maintenance,” said city Community Development Director Nancy Kraushaar.

The work is to be performed in two phases. First, sidewalk ramps in the area are updated to meet current federal ADA standards. Then, Wilsonville Road is ground-down for a new, two-inch asphalt overlay with new, long-lasting thermoplastic striping to identify the travel and bike lanes.

The grinding and asphalt overlay is scheduled to be completed at night to reduce inconveniences to the traveling public.

The contractor will also be sealing cracks on Southwest Parkway Avenue from Southwest Main Street to Southwest Metolius Lane beginning Monday, July 14.

Pedestrians and motorists should plan for delays and sidewalk closures/detours throughout the project over an anticipated four-week period.

For safety of the work crews, motorists are encouraged to slow down throughout the construction zone for the duration of the project, which is expected to be completed by mid-August.
