Investigators are still seeking to identify the man, who was carrying no identification. Police investigators are making progress in the investigation of the Aug. 11 shooting death of a man whose body was found in a field outside Wilsonville.

But they still are having trouble formally identifying the victim in the case, who is described as an adult Latino man in his late 20s or early 30s.

“There’s a delay in being able to positively identify the victim well enough to release that information,” Wilsonville Police Sgt. Dan Kraus said Friday afternoon. “It could be several weeks because we’re waiting for DNA. The investigation is proceeding with the information we have, and we’ve been able to make some progress.”

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office detectives are continuing their investigation into the homicide of the man, whose body was found in a field the afternoon of Monday, Aug. 11, near the intersection of NE Arndt Road and Highway 551 between Wilsonville and Aurora.

The Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy, and determined the unidentified man died from a gunshot wound.

The dead man is described as an adult, Hispanic male in his 20s or 30s. The victim is about 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs about 180 lbs. He was wearing an Army camouflage print t-shirt, blue jeans and black-and-orange Nike-brand sneakers. He also had a distinctive cross with blue stones on a neck chain.
