Event features long rides with varied terrain, amazing views and plenty of swag

Wilsonville's first go-round with elite bicycling events will happen this Saturday, as the Salmon Cycling Classic launches with a "grand fondo" featuring 50-80K rides throughout the countryside surrounding the city. The rides begin in Memorial Park at 9 a.m. sharp.

There is no first place in this event – grand fondos are a bunch of people going out on a common, pre-planned route together enjoying the camaraderie, the overtly beautiful scenery and the ride. Area residents are encouraged to come out and cheer and wave as the riders go by, and to become a part of this inaugural, Wilsonville event.

There's still time to register for this ground-breaking athletic event; go to www.salmoncyclingclassic to find out more.
