Despite her lack of a strong campaign Grider takes 45 percent of the votes against incumbent

Two-term state senator Kim Thatcher-R, Keizer, appears to be handily beating her ghost opponent, Sara Grider, who was selected by the Democratic Party to fill the District 13 ticket when Primary winner Paul Diller dropped out of the race. Early returns showed Thatcher, historically a hard-line Republican, with 55 percent of the vote and Grider – who did not appear in the voter's pamphlet and did not run a visible campaign -- with 45 percent.
