Salmon fishing at Willamette Falls

The label of this period postcard is quite specific as to the weight of the fish, as well it should be to honor the proud fisherman. I wonder if the number 6 painted or chalked on the boat indicates it's a rental, or part of a fleet, or...? Anyone know something about that?
As always, I'm struck by the
dapper attire of the companion manning the oars.
