(Editor's note: At the time of the story the city was experiencing a problem with the local Coca Cola bottling plant. Its wastewater was causing a foul odor to emanate from the city's sewage plant and residents to complain.)
"According to Starner, city staff met with Coke representatives May 23 to discuss acceptable parameters for discharging into the municipal sewer system…As a result the Coke facility will begin immediate water flow monitoring, composite sampling and testing. The city will begin a revision of its sewer use ordinance and Coke will develop timelines for implementing pretreatment to meet City requirements."
