Wayback Wednesday: PGE showcases all-electric homes
Wilsonville Spokesman, Wednesday, March 13 1985
All-electric homes were ready to be showcased at PGE's first Good Cents Show of Homes, which took place in Wimbledon Circle from May 18 to June 2, 1985. These homes, ranging between $60,000 to $85,000 and representing multiple different styles such as ranch and Cape Cod, fully relied on electricity, including for heating, and had the latest advances in energy efficiency, including state-of-the-art insulation.
The houses were partially furnished and landscaped and were open to public touring. Tickets were $3 for adults and $2 for seniors and children between the ages of 6 and 12, while admission for children under 6 was free. One third of all proceeds went towards the Friends of the Wilsonville Community Center, who provided volunteers to staff the event.
