Wilsonville Farmers Market returning Thursday
The Wilsonville Farmers Market is returning this week, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic the location and feel will be a bit different.
"It's been crazy. We are trying to make it work for everyone and keep everyone's safety and health in mind," said organizer Alexis Purcell. "We're just trying to find a new way to pull it all together and make it happen on a safe level."
The market will take place in Town Center Park, rather than Sofia Park, this year and will run 4-8 p.m. every Thursday starting June 18 until the second week of September.
Purcell said the new location will allow attendees more space to maintain social distancing. Some vendors and food carts include Parsons Farm (produce), Canby Asparagus Farm, Chop Chop Chicken Sundaes, South Barlow Berries, 3 Guys Grilling (sausages/hot dogs), Big O's Pizza and Koi Fusion (Korean).
Purcell said that vendors will wear masks and that handwashing stations and hand sanitizer will be readily available. She also said organizers will regulate how many people are in the market at a time and that there will not be live music this year.
Overall, Purcell hopes the community enjoys this year's market.
"We would love the foot traffic and we hope people start to get out and enjoy it. This is a big part of summertime and we're happy to provide this to people (who are) taking the next step to get back out," Purcell said.
