TwinStarr Credit Union cites a lack of foot traffic at location on Parkway Avenue as a cause for the closure

The TwinStarr Credit Union branch on Southwest Parkway Avenue in Wilsonville — the credit union's only Oregon location — will close Friday, July 31.

Laurie Kresl, TwinStarr vice president of marketing, said the Wilsonville branch didn't attract enough membership or foot traffic as the credit union had hoped and the decision was made prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. The branch opened in Wilsonville in 2011.

"We only have one physical location in Oregon and we were just not able to grow the membership the way we hoped to and members we do have there were accessing it digitally," Kresl said.

Kresl also said the building is being sold to the Salem-based Maps Credit Union, which she said may use the facility as an administrative building rather than a branch.

Kresl said users in the Wilsonville area can use online tools, ATMs and travel to Vancouver to branch locations to conduct their banking needs.

"I think TwinStarr is a phenomenal credit union," Kresl said. "We have a lot of products and services and our online tools are wonderful."
