The Charbonneau Arts Association announced Thursday, Sept. 2, that its annual Festival of the Arts will be postponed from November to next June.

In a press release, organizers cited COVID-19 uncertainty as a reason for the postponement — which was agreed upon by the group's board of directors. The most recent festival was held virtually, but organizers want the next event to take place at least partially in person and said the event being moved to late spring rather than winter will allow them to take advantage of outdoor amenities at Charbonneau Country Club.

"All were looking forward to a return to the live galleries, artisan vendors and the music stage, but with the safety of participants in mind, the postponement was deemed the best solution. It will also allow a broader collaboration with Wilsonville Arts and Culture Council, which has traditionally held their annual festival in June," the release read.

"It is also a better time of year for the teachers and students, and snowbirds who will be back from their desert homes. So, as the saying goes, it's an opportunity to 'make lemonade when life gives you lemons,' allowing for the transition without organizing two shows within six months."

Organizer Elaine Swyt said in the release that the level of artist interest was encouraging and organizers will reach out to them to help them transition to the June event.

The festival raises money for art programs at both Wilsonville and Canby high schools. The next event will be the 38th iteration. For more information, visit
