Commemorate Veterans Day in Wilsonville

Local organizations will commemorate Veterans Day at the Korean War Memorial in Town Center Park 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11.

The event will include speeches from Mayor Julie Fitzgerald and American Legion Post 65 Commander Larry Edwards, a fly over from the Ravens Flight Team, a wreath presentation, a retiring of the colors and more.

Villebois Village Center decision appealed

On behalf of 41 residents who live near the proposed development of three mixed-use buildings in the Villebois Village Center, Michele Sandlin has filed an appeal to Wilsonville City Council of a Development Review Board decision that approved the project for construction. The residents' main issue is with the proposed addition of a parking lot that was unnecessary to meet minimum parking requirements but was added to quell community concerns about a lack of parking in the area. The lot would be available to residents and workers of the building and is accessible via an alley next to existing homes. City Council will address the appeal during its regular meeting 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15.

Supreme Court denies review of boundary expansion case

After the Oregon Court of Appeals rejected a petition from Housing Land Advocates to reverse the Metro regional government's recent urban growth boundary expansion — which included Wilsonville's nascent Frog Pond East and South neighborhoods — the Oregon Supreme Court decided not to take up the case. HLA, which advocates for affordable housing initiatives and thinks Metro should focus more intently on increasing density within the growth boundary before expanding outward, had appealed the court of appeals decision to the Oregon Supreme Court. The court issued its decision to deny review Nov. 4. The two Wilsonville neighborhoods near Advance Road are projected to bring in over 1,300 homes to the community.

The local theatre group WilsonvilleSTAGE will showcase performances of "Rocky Rogers, Rocket Ranger" at Charbonneau Country Club in December.

The performances will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 and 3 p.m. Dec. 5. The play, which premiered in August in video format as part of a Wilsonville Arts and Culture Council series, is a comedy about a group of performers who are past their prime.
