After playing the waiting game for many months during the pandemic, Wilsonville Community Seniors Inc. is meeting again and planning for more ways to provide local seniors with opportunities to thrive.

To help facilitate its efforts, the nonprofit organization is hosting a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 12. The meals, which include spaghetti, salad, a roll and a cookie, are available via curbside pickup and orders can be placed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until Feb. 3 at the community center.

The organization, which is independent of the city of Wilsonville but provides recommendations on senior programming, began meeting in person again in June of last year and has since started hosting bingo nights and classes at the center. They're hoping to restart the senior trip program soon, as well as add enrichment programming at the center such as guest speakers, gardening opportunities and Olympic games in the park. Board Chair Nancy Combs said they will need volunteers once some of these activities get going again, but not yet.

Combs added that keeping Community Seniors running smoothly amid the pandemic has proved challenging and that she hopes people will help support the organization through the fundraiser.

"We're hoping they would want to support the senior activities so we can start getting them (seniors) to come out of their homes and congregate a little more and have community building and offer them some fun activities they can enjoy with other seniors," Combs said.
