Daddy-Daughter Dance morphs into Wilsonville Family Fairy Dance
The city of Wilsonville has rebranded the Daddy Daughter Dance to be more inclusive for all kinds of relationships. And they've added a second day to make sure more people can enjoy the festivities.
The Wilsonville Family Fairy Dance, which costs $20, will be held 7-9 p.m June 3-4 at the Stein Boozier Barn in Memorial Park. The event will feature a live DJ, photo booth, prize giveaway and snacks. Preregistration is required. Tickets are on sale at Wilsonvilleparksandrec.com, and you can only buy a ticket for one night.
Wilsonville Parks and Recreation Coordinator Erica Behler said the city wanted to open the event up to other kinds of relationships beyond a father and daughter, and emphasized that anyone is welcome to come. The Daddy-Daughter Dance was one of the more popular events the city offered, regularly selling out well before the big day.
The dance will include forest decorations like fairies, mushrooms and woodland creatures. The photo booth will have a fairy backdrop, and Behler added that there will be a fairy-themed scavenger hunt. Wilsonville Public Library staff will be in attendance to talk with community members about the summer reading program.
"I think it's going to be really great to have the community out for an event like this," Behler said. "The Daddy Daughter Dance has been canceled for the last couple years because of COVID, and it (the family fairy dance) will be a great way to get people back to that style of event, but open it up to more of the community and in a really cool venue. The barn is going to be decorated. It will be really fun."
